New Album Release: 'Tell Me'. Available January 16 2021
The Gilberts Nominated for 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards
We are starting out 2021 by releasing the follow-up album to our Canadian Folk Music Awards nominated debut recording. ‘Tell Me’ is released Saturday January 16 here and on Bandcamp. We would love it if you would help us launch the album by joining us for a virtual concert on our YouTube channel at 7:00 PM Atlantic Standard Time! If you can’t make it at 7, the concert will be available to watch anytime. ‘Tell Me’ takes four songs from our debut recording 'The Gilberts: One' and gives them a much fuller multi-tracked sound closer to our original intent before Covid caused us to make a virtue of necessity with a more pared down sound on our debut. And, we have added more songs that we feel are among our best so far. So please join us for our concert on YouTube, and take a listen to ‘Tell Me’.

We are delighted to be nominees for the 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards in the Young Performer(s) of the Year category. The nomination is for our debut recording 'The Gilberts: One' released in 2020. It is very much a Covid recording. We had planned to record our debut in a professional studio in March but pivoted to recording at home as the pandemic changed - well everything. We decided that our approach to the recording should be very simple and pared down. All songs recorded live off the floor on one day, in one take, with one mic, in one room. 'The Gilberts: One'.
The albums 'The Gilberts: One' and 'Tell Me' are elements of a larger project for which we acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
Bio
The Gilberts bring soulful lyrics, memorable melodies and close three part harmonies to their original songs. The 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards nominees are siblings Frieden, Reuben and Maisie. Influences include folk and contemporary folk, singer-songwriter, musical theatre and choral music. They have performed at Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, Deep Roots, Full Circle, soft-seat theatres, weddings and celebrations, house parties, eateries, bars and many other venues.

The webathon features live music from an array of local artists. Held each year on the first Sunday of December, all funds raised go to local families.
This event is now online only and can be watched live with the stream being hosted via Develop NS and Halifax Jazz Festival Facebook and YouTube pages and will be available until December 21.
Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society has a wonderful line-up of artists performing in this concert series. Social distancing in a beautiful location!
Garlic Vendor Pop-Up Market with Music Sponsored by Full Circle Festival
Avondale Sky Winery: "As all festivals had to be postponed in 2020, including our traditional Garlic Festival, we wanted to find a way to support our local garlic vendors. We are excited to announce that we will have eight local garlic growers in our pop-up market, over five weekends. Running from August 29th to September 27th, every Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. We look forward to you coming out to purchase your local garlic, enjoy some local music, and of course delicious wine!"
A march/vigil through the streets of Windsor, Nova Scotia, starting at the old Train Station, Water Street, through Gerrish to Victoria Park. Guest speakers, Naloxone training from Nova Scotia Health Authority Take Home Naloxone Program, and a vigil to honour people affected by overdose.

Fundraising goal for 2019 is $50,000. All funds raised go to local families! Local schools, fire departments, organizations, individuals, and businesses all work together. "Almost 250 volunteers bring the Telethon to our community. Musical performers donate their time too, and we showcase the huge range of talent in Hants County." (Hants County Christmas Angels Society)
